Vision
We envision a nation where secondary schools become equitable systems that acknowledge, support, and nurture the talent and genius of all students.

Who we help
Our work is ultimately designed to support and empower the hundreds of thousands of students who miss out every year on the advanced courses that can improve their college and career readiness.
We want to make sure that every student can achieve their full potential. To do this we work collaboratively with district administrators, school leaders, teachers, and counselors to ensure that every student is seen, understood and has opportunities to realize their full potential.

Root causes and needs we tackle
Advanced courses help prepare students for post-secondary pursuits, however access barriers and enrollment standards focused on test scores and GPA unintentionally limit access.
As a result, hundreds of thousands of capable students, including underrepresented students miss out on these vital courses every year.
Our work addresses the following school district and educator needs:
- Providing additional mechanisms to assess students’ advanced course potential
- Increasing insight into student needs, aspirations and barriers
- Supporting professional development for staff to understand and counter barriers.
- Accessing data and tools to track performance and progress.
How we create impact
Equal Opportunity Schools’ methods help districts and schools understand and unlock
potential across the student base to increase advanced course enrollment.
EOS methods particularly excel at identifying more underrepresented and underserved students who are ready to excel in advanced coursework than traditional methods.
According to a study by research firm Mathematica, EOS identifies over 2.5X more underrepresented and underserved students for advanced coursework than the AP Potential tool that emphasizes readiness based on test scores.
The majority of EOS-identified students who enroll in an AP course go on to pass that course.
Our Values
Four values guide our work and the work of people at Equal Opportunity Schools.
Justice
We are committed to the core principles of fairness for our students, our partners, and our employees. We work to change the policies, practices, and mindsets that stand in the way.
Service
We pursue our mission with courage and urgency. We hold ourselves to high standards and embrace ambitious goals to serve our clients—and the students they serve—with an unwavering belief in the power of change.
Learning
We believe in innovation, creativity, and risk-taking in order to reach our highest potential. We embrace opportunities to learn and improve continuously, striving to be better as individuals, as teams, and as an organization.

Community
We believe that we are stronger together, with a shared vision and common goals. We treat each other with respect and dignity. We are committed to being in true and lasting relationships with the communities with which we partner, and work to amplify voices that have been marginalized.
