Partnership Director

Toye Watson is an educator and international consultant who specializes in working with educators, school districts and non-profits, finding innovative and sustainable ways to transform teaching and learning for historically underserved communities. She served as a middle school educator in Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools for nearly a decade and the Education and Outreach Coordinator at PBS Charlotte. She holds a master’s degree in Urban Education from UNC Charlotte.

A 2017award recipient of MeckEd Teacher of Excellence, Watson is credited with creating several successful early childhood development initiatives aimed at bridging various gaps in education. Her work has been highlighted in publications, including University City Partners and Central Piedmont Community College. She joins Equal Opportunity Schools eager to continue the work of transforming our institutions by eliminating inequitable practices and cultivate the unique gifts, talents, and interest of every child so that success and failure are no longer predictable by student identity- racial, cultural, economic or any other social factor.

When she is not steeped in abolitionist work, she is busy being a loving wife of 18 years and mother of two beautiful daughters.
