Regional Director, Partnership Development
After spending a decade in sales and marketing in the high-tech industry, Sharmila transitioned into education advocacy through her 2 children. As an active parent volunteer in Seattle Public Schools, Sharmila has held various PTA Board positions, including Co-President and Secretary, from elementary school through high school, and was an active member of Superintendent-driven District committees and Task Forces, including one that worked to address equitable access to advanced learning courses in the District. This work led her to EOS, as she learned about its mission to serve under-represented students by eliminating barriers to access and improving opportunities for students who are often overlooked. In addition to her volunteer work, she has spent a decade as a preschool admissions director, where she gained an appreciation and understanding for early childhood education and advocacy.
In EOS, Sharmila has found an organization that allows her to build on her passion to improve outcomes for students who typically don’t have an advocate on their side. Supporting teachers, administrators, students and families in her community has been an integral part of her work and she looks forward to doing that with EOS and its partners.
Sharmila earned her Bachelor’s of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin and her MBA from the Goizueta School of Business, Emory University.
In her free time, Sharmila enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 teens, by traveling, going to sporting events, either the kids’ or professional, and volunteering in the schools. She also enjoys hosting gatherings to bring friends and family together to celebrate community and friendship.
