Director of Communications
Laiteisha comes to Equal Opportunity Schools with 20 years of experience in strategic, crisis and executive communications, public relations, digital media and news. Her past professional leadership experience includes serving as a Senior Director of Communications at Ohio University (OU) where she led recruitment, advancement and promotional communications. She was also as an adjunct professor who taught and mentored diverse students at colleges throughout Northeast Ohio, including John Carroll University, Cleveland State University, Notre Dame College, Cuyahoga Community College and Lakeland Community College. Her work as associate editor for NPR’s award-winning, nationally syndicated Tell Me More show with Michel Martin highlighted social justice issues, leaders and experts.
As a first-generation college student, Ms. Dobbins has passionately advocated for underrepresented youth for more than 25 years. She’s volunteered with various nonprofit organizations and has facilitated countless journalism, college admissions and professional etiquette workshops for inner city youth. Laiteisha has served on mission teams to Johannesburg, South Africa and Accra, Ghana (West Africa) where she taught in Ghanaian schools and helped build a gated 60-room retreat center. She was also a Red Cross Disaster Volunteer who assisted 9/11 survivors and Hurricane Katrina victims.
Ms. Dobbins holds a master’s degree in journalism from Ohio University and a bachelor’s degree in communications from John Carroll University. She is a native of Cleveland, Ohio who enjoys journaling, reading, cycling, traveling, the arts, and volunteering.
