Dr. Marken has spent his educational career as an advocate for underserved students. Dave has extensive experience as a high school teacher, assistant principal and principal. He has also held several district positions including assistant superintendent of both human resources and educational services.
Dave retired as a superintendent of a California bay area k-12 school district. Dr. Marken led the work with EOS and the high school in his district. The district was awarded the College Board’s Gaston Caperton Opportunity Honor Roll that recognized schools for creating opportunities for traditionally underrepresented students. As one of fewer than 30 districts in California and 130 across the U.S. to be recognized who demonstrated significant and consistent growth across five data points in the number of students taking college-level courses, and applying to four or more colleges.
Dave earned his Masters of Education degree from Simpson College and his Doctorate from the University of Laverne. He was named Superintendent of the Year for Region Six in California. He is excited to be a member of the EOS team. He continues his commitment to equity and opportunity for students with EOS as a Superintendent-in-Residence.
