Southbridge High principal says he’s here for the long haul

Earlier this year the school said it had qualified for a competitive national program to enhance Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate programs for high school students. It’s called the Lead Higher Initiative, a program spearheaded by the nonprofit Equal Opportunity Schools, in partnership with International Baccalaureate and the College Board, and in support of the My Brother’s Keeper Initiative by former President Barack Obama.

Nearly 275 more juniors and seniors in Indian Prairie School District’s three high schools are signed up for AP classes next year following a push to encourage participation by more college-bound minority students.
For the past year, District 204 has been working with Equal Opportunity Schools to ensure all college-bound juniors and seniors – no matter their race or income level – have the opportunity to succeed in challenging a high school courses, such as an Advanced Placement class.
