Achieving & Sustaining Equity at the Highest Levels
Equal Opportunity Schools launched our partnership together with you to achieve breakthrough results for low-income students and students of color. Together we ensured students have access to and would be supported in your best academic programs.
Based on input from your team and our experience in partnerships around the country, the following continuing services program is recommended to enable sustained results. Request your Collaboration Agreement (CA) by March 1 with your Renewals due April 13, 2018.
Comprehensive Strategic Support
Comprehensive Strategic Support seamlessly continues with a level of in-person support similar to what clients experienced in their first year of implementation. By building on the set of strategies deployed in the first year, schools have the benefit of a Partnership Director to enable sustained impact for under-represented students’ participation and success in AP/IB coursework.

LEARNING MINDSETS
We ranked every researched learning mindset intervention by maximum impact on student learning. We combined that knowledge with unique data on learning mindsets and skills of more than a quarter million students, along with our results from the asset activator pilots last Spring.
LEARNING MINDSETS
We are pleased to provide Learning Mindset Activators in our Continuing Services Pathways. A portfolio-wide report of student outcomes and benefits will be available to you. You will have the option to administer Staff and Student Activations during the fall or winter, separate from your fall surveying work.
The core of EOS equity work recognizes learning mindsets. As one of the main strategies for creating equity in AP and IB participation, EOS works with school partners to redefine student “readiness” for rigorous coursework. We look beyond GPA and test scores to identify students who demonstrate assets revealing learning mindsets and skills.
How does EOS recognize learning mindsets and skills?
We identify student assets psychological scientists show as powerful predictors of academic persistence and achievement —a growth mindset, purpose for learning, grit, and academic self-efficacy.
Recognition is only the first step.
Recognizing learning mindsets increases participation in AP/IB by identifying a larger pool of capable students. Were we to only focus on identifying students with these qualities, we would risk missing other students who could develop these attributes under the right conditions. Stepping beyond recognition allows us to close participation gaps by moving beyond traditionally inequitable metrics for identification.
Activation is key.
To move from recognizing to activating mindsets, EOS reviewed existing programs, workshops, and activities designed to boost students’ academic tenacity. We identified those that are most educationally impactful and least disruptive to classroom time. Our Growth Mindset and Belonging interventions are brief and have significant positive long-term educational impacts.
