Ardrey Kell High School
Dr. Yolanda Burnette currently serves as an assistant principal at Ardrey Kell High School in Charlotte, North Carolina, serving over 3,300 9th – 12th grade students. Her 18-year career began in South Florida, where she taught high school English and Intensive Reading classes. She has previously served as a middle school assistant principal and a middle and high school Literacy Instructional Coach. Throughout her career, Yolanda has worked diligently to support the academic growth of underrepresented students, as well as those students who present specific struggles.
Through working closely with EOS, Yolanda has been able to implement a variety of approaches that have proven successful in supporting and challenging underrepresented students. Yolanda earned her B.A. in English from THEE Jackson State University (Jackson, MS). She earned her Master’s Degree in Literacy in the Content Areas from Walden University (Minneapolis, MN) and her K-12 Leadership Licensure from Wingate University (Matthews, NC). She also earned her Ph.D in K-12 Leadership from Capella University (Minneapolis, MN).
